Named the reason for Karpin’s refusal to work with two RPL clubs

“Championship.com”: coach Valery Karpin refused to work with Lokomotiv and Krasnodar

The head coach of the Russian national football team Valery Karpin refused to work with Moscow Lokomotiv and Krasnodar. This is reported by “Championship.com” with reference to sources.

According to the publication, both clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL) offered the specialist to combine work with the position of head coach of the national team, but were refused. The reason was that Karpin is on friendly terms with the president of “Rostov” Artashes Arutyunyants. As a result, the choice was made in favor of this team.

Karpin’s new contract with the Russian national team became known on March 10. The agreement with the specialist has been extended until the end of 2022. It is noted that Karpin will be able to combine work with the position of the head coach of Rostov until the moment the Russian team returns to play in the international arena.

Karpin will lead the national team in the summer of 2021. Under his leadership, the national team reached the play-offs for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but due to FIFA and UEFA sanctions, they lost the opportunity to take part in the tournament. Prior to that, the coach led Rostov for four seasons.
