With fourteen days to go until the last matches are played in South America for qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, only two teams, Brazil and Argentina, have secured their place at the World Cup and Ecuador is one step away from achieving it.
The four classified, as well as the one who will go to the playoffs after being in fifth place in the classification, will be known in these last ten remaining games.
In addition to Brazilians (39 pts.) and Argentines (35 pts.), Ecuador (26 pts.) hopes to pass on March 24 when they face Paraguay in the Guarani town of Ciudad del Este.
South American Qualifying Standings
Only Paraguay (13 pts.) and Venezuela (10 pts.) are out of the running, while Bolivia (15 pts.) is on the brink after losing their last two meetings.
For their part, Uruguay (22 pts.), Peru (21 pts.), Chile (19 pts.) and Colombia (17 pts.) must make a strong finish to achieve classification.
The penultimate day will be played on March 24, all at the same time to avoid speculation on results, except for the Argentina-Venezuela match in Buenos Aires, taking into account that the Vinotinto is eliminated and the Albiceleste qualified. Therefore, the place of each one in the classification will not change.
The same methodology will have the last date with another five meetings on March 29, also at the same time.
Ecuador, on March 24, will play against Paraguay in Ciudad del Este at 6:30 p.m., in a match that could mean qualifying for the Tri, in case they draw or win against an eleventh GuaranĂ team that is also eliminated.
Later, on the 29th, it will close in Guayaquil against Argentina in what will be the second option to achieve the pass.
