Former UFC heavyweight champion joins Nurmagomedov’s promotion

Former UFC heavyweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov signs with Eagle FC

Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Junior dos Santos has signed a contract with Eagle FC promotion. It is reported by MMA Junkie.

The 38-year-old heavyweight, known for his performances in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), has joined the organization of Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov. Dos Santos is a former UFC champion.

He will make his Eagle FC debut on May 20. The Brazilian will face another ex-UFC fighter Yorgan De Castro. This fight will lead the event.

Dos Santos becomes the next former UFC champion to join Nurmagomedov’s promotion roster. Earlier, the American Rashad Evans joined the organization.

Eagle FC has already held its first event in the US. On January 28, the tournament in Miami was headed by the confrontation between the Russian heavyweight Sergey Kharitonov and the representative of the Netherlands Tyrone Spong.

As part of the UFC, dos Santos won 15 victories in 23 fights. He took the championship belt from the American Cain Velasquez, knocking out an opponent in 64 seconds. He later defended the title by stopping challenger Frank Mir.
