The President of the Norwegian Ski Association, Eric Reste, condemned the fans who threatened the Russian woman Natalia Nepryaeva at the World Cup in Holmenkollen. It is reported by NRK.
“It’s sad to hear about it. Threats, whether they come at a sporting event or elsewhere, are unacceptable and we strongly disavow them,” Reste said.
On March 9, Nepryaeva said that during the World Cup stage in Holmenkollen, Norwegian fans expressed threats against Russian athletes. “They approached the hotel almost with threats. They were shouting something. Well, it was really scary,” she said.
On March 1, the Norwegian Ski Federation banned Russian athletes from participating in competitions held in the country. After that, the International Ski Federation (FIS) extended the ban to all competitions under the auspices of the organization. The Russians did not come to the start of the race in Holmenkollen.
