Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Natalya Nepryaeva said that it would not be safe for Russians to compete at the World Cup in Norway. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the athlete, some local fans behaved inappropriately. “They approached the hotel almost with threats. They were shouting something. Well, it was really scary. And imagine – Holmenkollen. There is always a lively corridor of fans there. From drunken fans! Nepryaeva said.
The Russian woman added that their team would hardly have risked going to the start even if she had not been suspended. At the same time, according to Nepryaeva, not all Norwegian fans behave inappropriately.
On March 1, the Norwegian Ski Federation banned Russian athletes from participating in competitions held in the country. After that, the International Ski Federation (FIS) extended the ban to all competitions under the auspices of the organization.
