The Bureau of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) has adopted a new charter. This was reported on the website of the organization.
According to the document, Russian athletes and officials may not be allowed to participate in international competitions. “FINA will now carefully review all events on the calendar before making any decision to remove athletes or teams from participating in them,” the organization said.
At the same time, FINA opposed a complete ban on the performance of all athletes and officials from Russia. The organization said that the Russians should participate in events in a neutral status.
Earlier, FINA canceled the Russian stages of the world series in synchronized swimming and diving. It is noted that the decision was made after consultations with the athletes, as well as the national federations.
