The preparation work for the individual time trials (CRI) bears fruit for the Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadiers). The times reflected this Monday in the first stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico placed him in 20th place, 47 seconds behind his teammate Filippo Ganna, something that the Locomotive considers “a first step” to fight for the Giro d’Italiain May.

The Ecuadorian recognized the candidacies for the title of Pogacar and Evenepoel, but a fight is not ruled out in the following days.

Ineos will have to seek to prevail against powerful squads like Jumbo-Visma, who scored a hat-trick in the first stage of Paris-Nice and who arrives with the Danish Jonas Vingegaard in the leadwhom Carchense led by six seconds in the ITT.

Another candidate is the Colombian Miguel Ángel López (Astana Qazaqstan), with whom the Locomotive lost 5 seconds this day.

The Tirreno-Adriatico will run a total of seven stages and it will continue this Tuesday in a 219-kilometre day, starting in Camaiore and arriving in Sovicille, a route with few difficulties, which would leave a close to the sprint.
