The coronavirus has turned the reality of the esports we knew before the pandemic upside down. This one is slowly coming to an end, and the struggle in the field of computer games is returning to its original state. This is evidenced by the latest information directly from the United States.
North American LoL returns to the public
Filled stands of fans with verve supporting your favorite teams. This is how we remember esport, which was changed a few years ago due to the pandemic reality. North American League of Legends has been suspended from 2020, and matches continue online or in the quiet of the studio without any audience participation.
However, as it turns out, there will be a change soon. The upcoming Mid-Season Showdown, comparable to the playoffs in the League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split, will be played with the audience. Such actions can be inferred from the statements of Jackie Felling, the new commissioner of the league.
The information was not given through the official announcement, but through a comment on Reddit. One of the users asked if there was any new information about the upcoming event, which was announced last year. Felling replied, revealing the imminent start of selling tickets.
This is not an exceptional situation
The return of the League of Legends Championship Series to the grand arena will not be a precedent. In recent months, we can observe intense activities aimed at returning esport to the state that we had known before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The first big event was the CS: GO tournament, PGL Major Stockholm 2021. This one took place at the end of last year with the participation of the public. The end of February also marked the return of Intel Extreme Masters Katowice, where participants who decided to buy a ticket were welcome.
