Gustavo Alfaro praises Ecuador’s triumph with an alternate team: Being able to work only 30 minutes was not enough for the challenge, Mexico

Like the Aztec team, the tricolor also appeared in Charlotte with several fresh faces.

Like the Mexico team, the Ecuador team presented itself with new elements and an alternate line-up on Wednesday night in the friendly match that the Tricolor won 3-2 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The result was pleasant for the coach of La Tri, Gustavo Alfaro, because he alleged “external logistical setbacks” and only had thirty minutes to “be able to work” with the group of players who in their entirety are active in the local environment, except for Michael Estrada. (Toluca) and Alexander Alvarado (Orlando City).

“Closing this friendly match despite the logistical setbacks of others, being able to work only thirty minutes, was little for the challenge. I asked them (the players) to have pride, a sense of responsibility, but to try to play with the idea that they are in the National Team because of what they do in their clubs ”, Alfaro praised at a press conference after the match.

“We came to defend the soccer of Ecuador and the prestige of our league. Mexico has a difficult circulation to control and I asked them not to feel less. Luckily the boys did it, despite being an uncomfortable match for us ”.

Alfaro concluded with a message of reciprocity to those summoned and assured that he will study the possibility of having some elements within the star box next year.

“I am happy with the attitude of the boys and the predisposition they put in to represent the country in the best way possible. I’m proud of the attitude of the boys ”.

Two minutes later Jhonny Quiñonez, from the ranks of Aucas; at 15 Janner Corozo, from Delfín; and at 75 Walter Chalá, from Universidad Católica, scored the goals for the Ecuadorian team.

Santiago Giménez with an assist and Roberto Alvarado with Osvaldo Rodríguez with a score, were the most outstanding elements of the rejuvenated Aztec team led by Gerardo Martino.

Both selected took on this international friendliness in preparation for their next commitments in the qualifying round for the Qatar 2022 World Cup: Ecuador will host Venezuela on November 11 and visit Chile on November 16, while Mexico will face for the octagonal final of Concacaf to the United States and Canada, on November 12 and 16, in that order.
