The International Football Federation (FIFA) is considering postponing the 2022 World Cup qualifier play-off between Russia and Poland to June. Iteria Sport reports.
As it became known to the source, the federation is doing everything possible not to disqualify the Russian team. It is expected that FIFA will announce the final decision on Tuesday, March 8. Jakub Kwiatkowski, spokesman for the Polish national team, told Championship.com that the team did not have official information about the fate of the match.
Russia was supposed to play Poland on March 24th. In case of victory, the team of Valery Karpin would compete for a ticket to the World Cup with the best team from the Czech Republic – Sweden pair.
On February 28, FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended Russian clubs and teams from participating in all competitions. The disqualification is permanent.
