All terminations of the contracts of foreign players with the clubs of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) were made in compliance with the regulations. This is how the league reacted to the mass departure of legionnaires, according to Championship.com.
The KHL clarified that as of the evening of March 5, 14 players with foreign citizenship left the clubs. “The League does not see any danger for foreign players staying in Russia. Additionally, the KHL sent an official letter to the Ministry of Sports with a request to provide security guarantees, ”the league noted.
At the moment, Salavat Yulaev suffered the most from the departure of legionnaires. Finns Juho Metsola, Sakari Manninen, Teemu Hartikainen and Markus Granlund, as well as Dane Philip Larsen left the Ufa club.
The Gagarin Cup is being played in the KHL. Teams hold 1/4 final meetings in their conferences.
