Bayern Munich draw at home with Bayer Leverkusen, but remain at the top of the Bundesliga

This Saturday, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen drew 1-1 at the Allianz Arena, in a match valid for the 25th round of the German Championship. Niklas Sule scored the home team’s goal. Leverkusen reached the draw with an own goal from Thomas Muller.

With the result, the home team remains in the lead of the Bundesliga, with 59 points conquered, in 25 matches played. On the other hand, Leverkusen’s team occupies the third place in the championship, with 45 points.

Bayern return to the field on Tuesday, when they face RB Salzburg, at home, in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League. In the first leg, the teams tied by the score of 1 to 1, in Austria.

Leverkusen, in turn, plays on Thursday, against Atalanta, away from home, for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Europa League.

Playing at home, Bayern took advantage of the control of the field and the strength of the crowd to start putting pressure on the opponent. In the 18th minute of the initial stage, the team managed to open the scoring with a goal from defender Sule.

After Kimmich took a corner, Leverkusen’s defense couldn’t take the ball away, which was left for Sule to push into the back of the net.

Even with the advantage on the scoreboard, the Munich team continued to attack and dominate the game. However, in the 36th minute, Demirbay took a free-kick for Leverkusen. Thomas Muller deflected and countered to leave the duel tied.

After the break, the game became more balanced. Early on, both teams had opportunities to take the lead, but the goalkeepers, with good defenses, avoided new goals.

Seeking to change the score, the two coaches opted for substitutions. However, the changes had no effect and the match ended in a draw.
