The Cuban agent claims that if only the retina is damaged, which is the most likely so far, surgery will not be needed and the Cuban “Jackal” will gradually regain his sight as a result of natural regeneration.
A much bigger problem will arise if research shows that the injuries go beyond the retina. Surgery will then be required and the prognosis for a complete recovery of vision may worsen. The next night may be crucial for the health of the 41-year-old legendary athlete.
