Hired as a replacement for Luis Suárez and a solution to Barcelona’s attack, Martin Braithwaite has been losing ground in the team and could leave the club soon, according to information from Spain’s Mundo Deportivo.
The Dane arrived in Catalonia in early 2020, signed from Leganés for 18 million euros. At the time of the negotiation, the player signed a contract valid until June 2024 and a termination penalty of around 300 million euros.
Currently 30 years old, Braithwaite has not been able to get in the way with the Barça shirt. Since arriving at Camp Nou, he has played 57 matches and scored just 10 goals.
In this current season, with the arrivals of Aubameyang, Luuk de Jong and Memphis Depay, Martin Braithwaite’s situation has become even more complicated.
The striker was a starter under the command of coach Ronald Koeman, but was injured in September last year and left the team.
Since he returned, now being managed by Xavi, he has played only once, against Athletic Bilbao, for the Copa del Rey, on January 20th. Since then, he has been listed for the team’s seven games, but has not entered the field.
To avoid ostracism, Braithwaite must be traded in the next transfer window.
