Fetisov predicted the future of Russian sports in isolation

Two-time Olympic champion, State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov predicted the future of Russian sports in conditions of complete isolation. His words are quoted by Fontanka.

Fetisov said that Russia would be able to invest in the development of children’s sports, get rid of paying large salaries to foreign athletes, and also start holding domestic competitions. “Sooner or later the conflict will end. Now is a difficult time, we can regroup, ”he said.

On March 1, State Duma deputy Dmitry Svishchev said that the restrictions that affected Russian athletes were temporary. In his opinion, the Russian market is the largest for the sports industry.

Against the backdrop of Russia’s special military operation in the Donbass, many domestic athletes were left without the opportunity to participate in international competitions. On February 28, the International Olympic Committee called for the non-admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in tournaments, after which the sports federations supported the sanctions. In addition, Russia lost the right to host the Champions League final, the Formula 1 Grand Prix stage, the World Chess Olympiad and a number of other competitions.
