The International Sambo Federation (FIAS) has announced sanctions against Russian and Belarusian athletes. This was reported on the website of the organization.
Based on the FIAS resolution, sambists from Russia and Belarus will be able to take part in international competitions only in a neutral status. They will compete in tournaments under the auspices of FIAS.
Earlier on March 3, the International Wrestling Federation (UWW) excluded the Russian team from tournaments under its auspices. The organization also canceled tournaments that were supposed to be held on the territory of the Russian Federation.
On March 1, it became known about the sanctions against the national teams of Russia and Belarus by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF). Domestic athletes will miss the MMA Super Bowl in Bahrain.
Sambo is a kind of sports and applied martial arts developed in the USSR on the basis of judo, national types of wrestling. International recognition of sambo took place in 1966.
