American mixed martial arts (MMA) columnist Luke Thomas expressed his opinion on possible sanctions against professional fighters from Russia performing in the United States. The video is available on the Morning Combat YouTube channel.
Thomas stressed that the economic sanctions against Russia are unprecedented. The journalist noted that they will affect the lives of tens of millions of ordinary people. “There are a lot of calls here to punish the fighters from Russia, but, as for me, this is a terrible idea,” he said.
Thomas noted that the removal of the Russian football team can be interpreted as sanctions against the country’s officials. However, the journalist is convinced that individual representatives of Russia should not experience additional difficulties. “The MMA fighters here just need to be allowed to do their job. To earn a living, as each of us does,” he added.
Earlier, the head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Dana White, said that the promotion is having difficulty organizing fights with the participation of Russians. At the same time, he stressed that his team is doing everything possible to ensure that the planned fights are held.
