Ice Hockey Federation of Canada Twitter opposed the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2022 Paralympic Games in Beijing.
In Canada, they said they categorically disagree with the decision of the International Paralympic Committee and intend to seek its revision. “We are facing a humanitarian challenge that is bigger than hockey and sports,” they stressed. The Federation noted that they want to honestly compete for a gold medal at the Paralympic Games.
The International Paralympic Committee allowed Russian athletes to compete at the 2022 Games on March 2. The Russians will perform at the Games in a neutral status. Athlete awards will not count towards the unofficial Paralympic medal standings.
Games will be held from 4 to 12 March. Competitions will be held in three clusters – Beijing, Zhangjiakou and Yanqing.
