Summit between LigaPro clubs and the owner of GolTV, Paco Casal, to resolve the debt for TV rights that the Uruguayan firm maintains

The general manager of Independiente del Valle warns that a committee of directors is analyzing “other options” in the event that GolTV assumes that it does not have more resources.

From the General Management of Independiente del Valle it was reported this Wednesday that a commission of leaders and representatives of clubs affiliated to the Professional Football League of Ecuador agreed to a meeting with the owner of the channel GolTV, Paco Casal, because several teams from the first division of national football claim that they are owed “a lot of money” under television rights by the Uruguayan firm.

In statements to the Quito radio Network, Santiago Morales revealed that “there is a commission of leaders that will meet with the principal of GolTV next November 4; hopefully there is a solution ”. “They owe us a lot of money, there should already be a payment plan in place,” he emphasized.

According to the version of the president of the Professional League, Miguel Ángel Loor, GolTV in 2020 “he paid in full”, and so far in 2021 “he has paid almost 12 million dollars and should have paid 21 million”.

Further, GolTV owes the Professional League a revenue share (the income generated by a sale of a good or a service divided between the corresponding parties) corresponding to 2019, but it had to be paid in 2020, “just when the cable operators (Xtrim TVCable, Claro and CNT) broke (with GolTV), and that value amounts to 3 million something ”, added Loor, asked by THE UNIVERSE.

For 20 of the 26 clubs in the Professional League, it seems that this situation seems untenable with two months to go until the end of the 2021 campaign, against which Morales warns that “a majority of the clubs” would be analyzing “other options” in In case GolTV assume not having more resources to comply with what is offered.

“We have a signed contract, we have respected it and we hope that they will do the same, that they comply with what is established,” said the general manager of Independiente del Valle.

Regarding the LigaPro Serie A championship, Morales announced that the club has requested the assistance of video arbitration technology (VAR) for the matches against Guayaquil City and Emelec, corresponding to dates 13 and 14, “basically to help the referees and that they do not have problems in the commitment ”.

With 24 points, Independiente del Valle is the leader of the second phase of the Ecuadorian championship, and Emelec and Nueve de Octubre escort him with 21. With 15 points, Barcelona SC will have to carry out a perfect campaign against Aucas and, at the end of the stage , expect that scratched, electric and octubrinos do not reach 30 points. (D)
