Lukaku scores, Chelsea turn over second division team to advance in FA Cup

This Wednesday, the Chelsea visited second division Luton Town for the FA Cup round of 16. Thomas Tuchel’s team won 3-2, on a comeback, with goals from Saúl Ñíguez, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.

Now, the Blues await the definition of the quarter-final clashes. The draw will be held this Thursday.

Chelsea return to the field next Saturday, at 12:00 (Brasília time), against Burnley, for the English Premier League. Luton Town, in turn, visit Middlesbrough, on the same day and time, in the national second division.

The game – In the first half, the hosts opened the scoring after just two minutes. Luke Berry took a corner and Reece Burke headed into the back of the net.

Chelsea’s draw came in the 27th minute. Saúl Ñíguez received the ball at the edge of the area and finished in the left corner of the Luton Town goalkeeper. The Spaniard had the chance of a comeback shortly after, facing the goal, but stopped in defense of the archer.

At 41, the home team took the lead again. Harry Cornick received a deep throw, advanced free of marking and touched Kepa’s exit to the back of the net.

In the second half, Chelsea reached the equalizer in the 23rd minute. Loftus-Cheek took off a beautiful pitch for Timo Werner, who dominated and rocked the hosts’ nets.

And the turn came at 34. Timo Werner received on the right and crossed low in the area. The ball reached Romelu Lukaku, who had the job of just pushing it to the back of the net.
