Probable alignments of Universitario and Barcelona SC for the Copa Libertadores match in Lima

Barcelona SC arrived in Lima with high spirits due to its recent victory over University Technician, for date 2 of the LigaPro Serie A of Ecuador; and with the mission of defining the lawsuit against Universitario de Deportes without setbacks (in regulation time) and thus advancing to the third and final play-off phase of the Copa Libertadores.

The semifinalist team of the Libertadores in 2021 began this year from the first qualifying round in which they eliminated Montevideo City Torque from Uruguay on penalties after drawing 1-1 in Uruguay and 0-0 in Guayaquil. In the next instance, they defeated Universitario 2-0 at home.

In the next phase, the winner of this series will face the winner of the bracket made up of América Mineiro and Guaraní, who won 1-0 in the first leg.

The interim coach of the Canary Islands, Alejandro Castillo, accompanied by Jonathan Mejía, would propose a cautious game, but pending execution of the counterattack. The new coach, Jorge Célico, will observe the incidents from the stadium’s grandstand.

Barcelona SC will be without midfielders Damián Díaz and Leonai Souza due to injuries.

The match will be played at the National Stadium in Lima starting at 7:30 p.m., with arbitration by the Uruguayan Andrés Matonte and assisted by his compatriots Martín Soppi and Carlos Barreiro, and will be televised by ESPN and Fox.
