RPL will reschedule the matches of the 22nd round to the same dates

The clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL) supported the postponement of the matches of the 22nd round to the previous dates. This was reported on the league website.

On March 2, a general meeting of the RPL clubs was held, at which the issue of making changes to the tournament calendar was considered. The clubs decided to apply to the Russian Football Union (RFU) with a proposal to postpone the matches from May 3-5 to March 18-20.

On February 24, the RPL and the RFU announced the postponement of the matches of the 19th round of the championship. “Meetings in Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar, where the operation of airports has been suspended due to the order of the Federal Air Transport Agency, have been postponed. New dates and times for these matches will be published additionally,” the statement said.

In December, the RPL postponed the 22nd round for the play-offs of the Russian national team in the selection for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Teams from Poland, the Czech Republic and Sweden expressed their unwillingness to play with domestic players. Later, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended Russian clubs and teams from participation in all competitions.
