Olympic champion in speed skating, now State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova expressed confidence that the 2022 Winter Paralympics in Beijing will be calm. This is how she reacted to the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to allow Russian athletes to compete. It is reported by “Sport-Express”.
“There were fears that they would not allow our athletes. China will not allow any provocations. I hope that everything will go well for them, ”said Zhurova. She stressed that the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) had no legal basis to remove the Russians.
On March 2, the IPC allowed Russian athletes to compete at the 2022 Games in Beijing. The Russians will perform at the Games in a neutral status. Belarusian athletes will also be able to take part in the Paralympics.
Games will be held from 4 to 12 March. Competitions will be held in three clusters at once – Beijing, Zhangjiakou and Yanqing.
