The international union of international football players (Fifpro) mourned the death of the first two Ukrainian players, Vitalii Sapylo21 years old, and Dmytro Martynenko25, as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Our thoughts are with the families, friends and teammates of the two young Ukrainian players Vitalii Sapylo and Dmytro Martynenko, the first two reported football losses in this war. Rest in peace ”, signed on social networks the union chaired by David Aganzo, president of the Association of Spanish Soccer Players (AFE).

Both soccer players from non-professional categories, Vitalii Sapylo died in Kiev when facing the entry of Russian troops into the Ukrainian capital and Dmytro Martynenko died with his mother after a bomb hit his home.
El Karpaty announced the death of Sapylo and said in a statement that his death occurred on Friday, February 25 “near Kiev” in “combat with Russian forces while defending” the Ukrainian capital. “Eternal memory of this hero,” his club wrote. For his part, Martynenko was killed along with his mother after a bombing at his home, the local Kyiv-Sviatoshynskyi federation explained on its Facebook page.
Fifpro yesterday (Monday) joined the sports organizations that demanded the suspension of the Russian Football Federation and asked for support to evacuate innocent people trapped in the middle of the war, started by the entry of the Russian army into Ukrainian territory on 24 February.
