Bidasoa Irun bordered on surprise against Füchse Berlin, but fell 32-35 this Tuesday March 1 in Artaleku, in the party of the matchday nine of the Europa League.
The team from Irun jumped onto the Artaleku court without complexes, but the potential of the German team soon became clear. Lasse Andersson exhibited his powerful shot to score four almost consecutive goals that forced Jacobo Cuétara to request time-out when barely 10 minutes had been consumed (3-7). The call to order had an effect and Bidasoa Irun reduced the gap (6-8), although Füchse Berlin always had the game under control, with revenues that ranged between three and four goals. The team from Irun barely managed to keep a safe distance from Füchse Berlin. The Germans went into the break with a four-goal lead (16-20).
The exchange of goals was a constant in the resumption. Bidasoa Irun managed to get within three goals (20-23), but the visitors opened the gap again (22-27). Cuétara then stopped the match and the team from Irun came out of the dead time like lightning. Fernández, Santano and Cavero scored to close the gap (25-27) and Cavero himself put his team within a goal for the first time after completing a counterattack (27-28). The option of drawing was not used by the local team, Füchse Berlin was lethal in the final stretch, and the match ended with a defeat by Bidasoa Irun (32-35).
