Ex-Corinthians, Maicon Douglas evaluates experience in Saudi Arabia

After eight rounds of Saudi Arabia’s first division, Al Akhdoud is in 11th place in the competition, with 11 points. One of the team’s highlights at the start of the season is midfielder Maicon Douglas, who is playing abroad for the first time.

“I’m very happy with this first experience working outside Brazil, I’ve been here for 3 months now and I’ve adapted well to their culture and style of play. The Saudis are very receptive and like us Brazilians a lot, having other Brazilians on the team also helped a lot in my adaptation”, said the player.

After the change of coach, the team has not lost in the last three matches, with two wins and one draw, and despite being in 12th position, they are only four points behind third-placed Al Wehda. The top three of the 20 clubs gain access to the highest division in the country.

“Our team has been evolving well, especially in these last games where we are undefeated. We are working hard in training to continue growing in the competition, looking for victories and up front to be able to gain access, which is the goal of everyone at the club”, added the athlete.

Maicon is 28 years old and was trained in the youth categories of Corinthians, Vasco and Flamengo, in addition, in 2009 he was called up for the Brazilian under-17 team. The player competed in the Series A2 of Paulistão this year for Atibaia, where he was the first team player.
