Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Islam Makhachev volunteered to replace Rafael Fiziev, who will not be able to fight at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament on March 6. The Russian wrote about this in Twitter.
Makhachev, 30, said he was ready to replace Fiziev and fight Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos. He stressed that he had long been waiting for a meeting with the ex-UFC champion in the octagon. In the event that the UFC agrees to this fight, Makhachev will fight a week after his victorious fight against Bobby Green.
UFC 272 will take place on March 6th. Jorge Masvidal will take on Colby Covington in the main event of the evening. The fight is billed as a welterweight matchup.
Makhachev has won ten consecutive victories in the UFC. The Russian is an associate of the ex-champion of the organization Khabib Nurmagomedov and continues to train with him at the American Kickboxing Academy.
