The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have deprived Russia of international competition. This was reported on the FIFA website.

FIFA imposed sanctions on the Russian national football teams

The exclusion of clubs and national teams from international football has been cited as an additional measure. Prior to this, FIFA announced a number of sanctions against Russian football. In particular, domestic national teams were deprived of the opportunity to perform at their own stands, the use of national symbols, the flag and the anthem was banned.

Opponents in the 2022 World Cup play-offs did not want to play with the Russian team

FIFA’s decisions were preceded by public statements by the football authorities of other countries. The national teams of Poland, the Czech Republic and Sweden, who could play in the joints for the 2022 World Cup with the Russian team, refused to play matches with domestic players.

The match in St. Petersburg would be the second Russian final in the history of the Champions League.
