– The FIVB is working closely with the Russian volleyball federation and the organizing committee in preparation for the various volleyball and beach volleyball events to be held in the country. They are all going according to plan – we read in the FIVB statement.
This decision was met with harsh reactions from the entire volleyball community. They expressed their negative surprise, among others Earvin Ngapeth, Ivan Zaytsev, Facundo Conte, Benjamin Toniutti and Bruno Rezende. The star of the Polish national team has joined this group – Bartosz Kurek, or the legend of Russian volleyball.
– This disgrace will forever go down in the history of my country. The whole world does not want to see us in their countries and they isolate us. Many people in Russia are against what is happening, Gamowa wrote on Instagram.
The Russian media are already counting the losses after the removal of the Russian World Cup. It’s about multi-million dollars
Meanwhile, the Russian media are starting to seriously consider that the World Cup in Russia, which was scheduled to be held from August 26 – September 11, will ultimately not be. All because other teams, including the Netherlands, have announced a boycott of this event, and Italy is to make a similar decision soon. This would mean enormous pressure on the FIVB, which would have no choice but to change the host of the championship.
For the Russians, taking the World Cup away would mean big losses. According to the Russian portal “BO Sport”, the Russian federation paid over 666 million rubles ($ 8 million) for the organization of the tournament, and billions of rubles were spent on preparations for this event, incl. on infrastructure or marketing. The more so as the IOC called on the sports federations not to organize any sports events in Russia and Belarus.
It seems just a matter of time before receiving the World Cup from Russia. Russian journalists are wondering whether all these costs of organizing the tournament will be reimbursed to Russia, although they probably also know the answer to this question.
