Gracenote predicted the place of the Russian national team in the medal standings of the Olympic Games (OI) in Beijing. Statistics are available on the organization’s website.
The company calculated that Russian athletes will win 38 medals (14 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze) and take second place in the medal standings. The leaders will be the Norwegians, who are to win 44 medals. In third place, according to analysts’ forecasts, will be the German national team with 27 awards. Next on the list are the United States, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, France and Austria.
The ranking is based on the performance of the athletes in recent years. It is noted that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the forecast is more uncertain than at the previous Games.
In December 2020, the Court of Arbitration for Sport approved a two-year ban on Russian athletes from performing under the Russian flag at the World Championships and the Olympics. For two years, Russia also has no right to host these tournaments.
The Beijing Olympics will be held from 4 to 20 February 2022.
