A year ago, the same teams met both in the final of the Polish Cup and in the tournament. In PP, ZAKSA turned out to be better, winning 3-0 indisputably. Since then, however, a lot has changed in volleyball Poland. Already in the PlusLiga final, both matches were won by Jastrzębski Węgiel 3-1 and won the Polish championship, and in the summer the team from Jastrzębie Zdrój strengthened significantly, while the team of European club champions seemed weaker than in the previous season.
ZAKSA smashed Jastrzębski Węgiel! She won the ninth Polish Cup
ZAKSA, however, continues to amaze. In PlusLiga, after playing 17 matches, she remains undefeated, she advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League, and on Sunday in Wrocław she quickly dealt with Jastrzębski Węgiel again, defending the Polish Cup.
There was no doubt in any of the sets who was better that day. Only in the first game, Jastrzębski Węgiel was able to score 20 points. In the remaining sets he was losing smoothly to 15 and 19. She won 3-0 and for the ninth time in the club’s history she won the Polish Cup.
Ukasz Kaczmarek scored the most points for the runners-up – the 14th MVP of the game was, however, the quarterback of ZAKSA – who duly replaces the Olympic champion Benjamin Toniutti, currently defending the colors of Jastrzębski Coal, in Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
Both ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and they will represent Poland in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. ZAKSA is to face Dynamo Moscow (although he is not going to play with the team from Russia), and the Polish champions will face the Italian Cucine Lube Civitanova. The first matches are to be played on March 8-9.
