The Spanish Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) met the forecast in the Sarria time trial, which put an end to O Great Roadand snatched the victory from the Canadian Michael Woods (Israel)who reached the fourth and last date of the return to Galicia with ten seconds and ended up losing 17 with respect to the Murcian.
Valverde smiled in Sarria (Lugo) and also one of the two Ukrainians who were in competition, Mark Padun (Education First)who took the last partial victory.
It helped Valverde to be fourth (with the same time as third) in this Sunday’s stage, in which Jesus Herrada (Cofidis)second, he stayed five seconds behind Padun and Ion Izaguirre (Cofidis), third, to ten.
The explosive ending, on paper, favored Movistar’s. Valverde finished the stage 10 seconds behind Padun and only Woods was missing, who was leaving fifteen seconds with respect to Murcia at the entrance of the last kilometer.
The Canadian finished 27 seconds from the finish line and Valverde savored the win by 7 seconds over the Israel team cyclist, while Rubén Fernández missed the podium by just six seconds.
In the general classification Ion Izagirre has been sixth, Igor Arrieta (Kern Pharma Team) seventh and Urko Berrade (Kern Pharma Team) eighth.
