Representatives of the St. Petersburg “Zenith” said that the Ukrainian defender Yaroslav Rakitsky will continue to play for the team. This became known from the press service of the club, reports RIA Novosti.
The club denied rumors about breaking the agreement with the 32-year-old player. “Contracts with all football players are valid and executed in accordance with the contractual terms,” the blue-white-blue emphasized.
In January, the representative of Raktsiy Maxim Dudchenko admitted that negotiations with Zenit on a new agreement could reach an impasse. The player’s agent said that Rakitskiy may be in another team.
Rakitskiy’s contract with the Blue-White-Blues expires in June 2022. Before moving to Zenit, Rakitskiy played for Shakhtar Donetsk. He also has five goals in 54 matches for the Ukrainian national team, to which he was no longer called up after moving to the Russian club.
