Playing in their stadium, Hoffinheim achieved an impressive comeback this Friday, against Stuttgart. The team was losing until the 40th minute of the second half with a goal from Endo, but managed two goals in the end with Baumgartner and entered the G4 of the German Championshipafter winning 2-1.
Now, the team is fourth in the competition with 40 points and dreams of qualifying for the Champions League of the next season. Stuttgart, on the other hand, reached the ninth game without victories in the championship and bitter the penultimate position with 19 points.
In the opening 45 minutes, both teams squandered at least one big chance each. At 19, after a great move from the right of Stuttgart, Chris Fuhrich received a completely free mark and submitted the right post. At 21, it was Hoffenheim’s turn to miss a great opportunity. After the goalkeeper’s rebound, Pavel Kaderabek hit the crossbar firmly.
The conversation in the dressing room had an effect and Stuttgart came back more effective for the second half. In the 13th minute, the team took a corner in the short, Sasa Kalajdzic deflected a header and Wataru Endo appeared on the second pole to swell the nets.
After the goal, Stuttgart lowered their lines and the hosts grew in the match. The equalizing goal, however, only came in the 40th minute, when Christoph Baumgartner made a beautiful individual move down the right, invaded the area and hit the ball into the corner, with no chance of defense. The same Baumgartner, five minutes later, turned the match, after remaining inside the area, to the delight of the stands.
Now, Hoffinheim will face Colônia, away from home, on March 6, at 1:30 pm (Brasília time). Stuttgart plays on Saturday, the 5th, at 14:30, against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
