The world of sport reacts to Russian aggression, and it is starting to question the legitimacy of playing sports events planned for the coming weeks or months in Russia more and more loudly. The Ski Cross World Cup was to be held in the local Sunny Valley from Friday to Sunday. The struggle has even begun, but it is already known that it will not be over.
Since Thursday, individual teams made it clear that they would not compete in Russia. Nevertheless, the International Ski Federation was stubborn and on Friday decided to conduct qualifications. The situation was so bizarre that only representatives of the host country took part in them.
– All nations have made a courageous and collective decision to leave Russia. FIS closes its eyes and conducts qualification with 6 Russian players – commented on Twitter Eurosport journalist Florian Pigeon.
It was only after the qualifications that the FIS activists decided that the competition had to be canceled. “In the interests of fair competition, the judges of the World Cup in Ski Cross have decided to cancel the competition in Sunny Valley after qualifying. The FIS is looking for a replacement location and date for this competition and will inform you if it finds” – the report reads.
“We are convinced that sport should always remain outside politics. Unfortunately, not everyone shares this position. We feel sorry for the fans who prepared for exciting competitions and a real celebration of sport” – they wrote in their comment The event’s organizers were cited by the sports.ru portal.

On Friday before noon, the official FIS announcement finally appeared, in which we read about the cancellation of all competitions planned to be held in Russia by the end of the season.

In an interview with us, the decision not to send Norwegian jumpers to Nizhny Tagolus was confirmed by Clas Brede Braathen, director of the team. The Austrians, Germans and Swedes took similar steps.
