UEFA has decided that the Russian city of Saint Petersburg will not host the next Champions League final on May 28 after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the match will be played in Paris at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, at 9:00 p.m.
Russia’s attack on Ukraine has led the highest body in European football to hold an extraordinary meeting in which, among other issues, it has been determined that the match will be played in France and not in Russia.
Another measure that UEFA has taken is that both the teams and the national teams of Russia and Ukraine that compete in tournaments organized by this organization play the matches that they had to play at home in neutral venues until further notice.
The change of venue for the Champions League final is the third that UEFA decides in a row, after those of previous seasons due to the pandemic.
