The football director Sao PauloCarlos Belmonte, said this Thursday that he had consulted with David Neres, currently at Shakhtar Donetsk, in Ukraine, after the Russian invasion of the country, in an interview with Central do ge.
Belmonte stated that he considers the negotiation very difficult, but he opened the door to a possible loan for the player revealed in Cotia.
“We talked to David Neres. A consultation to understand at this moment… The thing is still very raw, the information is about a sale. If you intend for Neres to leave for a season paying part of the salary, we can talk. We don’t have the resources to hire a player like him, but if it’s the desire to put him here for a while, we’re open”, said the São Paulo manager.
São Paulo even made an official statement asking the government for support and made itself available to help athletes who are in Ukraine.

With political instability and bombing in the region, the Ukrainian Championship was suspended indefinitely. Furthermore, Brazilian players playing in Ukraine, including Neres, posted a video on social media asking the Brazilian government for help to leave Kiev, the country’s capital.
David Neres is 24 years old and has barely played for São Paulo. With just eight professional appearances and three goals, the player was sold in 2017 for R$50 million to Ajax-HOL.
After even receiving chances in the Selection of Tite, David Neres ended up transferring to Shakhtar Donetsk, for 15 million euros earlier this year.
