Russia’s aggression against Ukraine continues. On Monday evening, he officially recognized the independence of the separatist republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. On Thursday, the Russian army attacked military points throughout Ukraine.
“Not for War”
Fyodor Smolov officially opposed Russia’s attack on Ukraine. The 32-year-old Russia striker posted a very brave Instagram post in which he opposes what his country is doing. “Not for the war” – wrote Smołow on his Instagram profile and posted a black, empty picture next to it.
Smolov is a 45-time representative of Russia. During his career, he has played for Feyenoord Rotterdam, Celta Vigo and many Russian clubs. Currently, he is a player of Dynamo Moscow. Smołow will not play against the Poles in the semi-finals of the bargaining promotion to the world championship in Qatar – he will be paused due to the fact that the yellow card limit in the qualifying rounds is exceeded. For the same reason, Aleksander Gołowin will not appear in the meeting with Poland.
The Ukrainians were also supported by Kamil Glik, the Polish representative. On Twitter he posted a post saying “Prayer for Ukraine”.
Andriy Shevchenko spoke out about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine
“Ukraine is my homeland! I have always been proud of my compatriots and my country!” – declared Andriy Shevchenko, a former excellent striker of AC Milan and the Ukrainian national team in a personal appeal to the Ukrainians. The unequivocal declaration has a strong resonance, because in the past the legendary striker was perceived in his homeland as pro-Russian, and certainly not pro-Ukrainian.
