Former Scotland and Rangers coach Walter Smith died aged 73, the Glasgow football team reported on Tuesday.

In two stints at Rangers, Smith has won 21 titles since his debut as coach in 1991. He also directed England’s Everton for four years and was assistant to coach Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, before taking charge of the national team. Scotland in 2004.
In 2007, Smith returned to Rangers winning new titles and leading the team to the UEFA Cup final in 2008, in which the team was defeated by Russian Zenit. The former coach retired from football in 2011.
