In Latvia, decided to oblige Dinamo Riga to stop playing in the KHL

Latvian Minister of Education and Science Anita Muižniece initiates amendments to the country’s sports law. It is reported by TVNET Sports.

“In the coming days, I will propose that in this situation our athletes and our teams are banned from participating in the championships of other countries outside the European Union,” Muižniece said. If the law is passed, Dynamo Riga will be obliged to leave the Continental Hockey League (KHL).

Dynamo Riga has been playing in the KHL since the league was founded in 2008. In the current draw, the team finished last in the Western Conference and did not qualify for the playoffs.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass. The head of state also turned to external forces that might try to pose a threat to Russia – according to him, Russia’s response will be immediate.
