State Duma Deputy Vitaly Milonov commented on the decision of the US Treasury to impose sanctions on the Moscow football club CSKA. His words are quoted by Metaratings.ru.
“We are ready, if necessary, to get together and think about how to help the CSKA football club in connection with these sanctions. If a request is received, we will discuss it,” Milonov said. He considered that the exclusion of Russia from European competitions would be an example of unsportsmanlike behavior.
On February 22, the US Treasury confirmed the imposition of sanctions against the Russian banks VEB and Promsvyazbank, as well as their 42 subsidiaries. CSKA was sanctioned as an asset of VEB Bank. As a result, football players will not be able to do business in the US, for example, the possibility of signing advertising contracts with American firms is excluded.
CSKA after 18 rounds of the Russian Premier League (RPL) has 30 points and is in fourth place in the standings. On February 26, the army team will face Spartak in the first match after the winter break.
