Economist, first vice president and former director of Lokomotiv Alexei Kirichek commented on the inclusion of CSKA in the sanctions list of the US Treasury. He voiced a proposal to exit the list in an interview with Championship.com.
“We need to minimize future costs and think about how to get off this list. For example, to study the option of how changing ownership from VEB to another company will allow getting out of the sanctions list,” Kirichek said.
He also predicted the most serious consequences for CSKA after the sanctions are also announced by the European Union. At the same time, the specialist called the main thing that the club will continue to play football and delight the fans.
Earlier, the US Treasury confirmed the imposition of sanctions against Russian banks VEB and Promsvyazbank, as well as their 42 subsidiaries. CSKA was sanctioned as an asset of VEB Bank. As a result, football players will not be able to do business in the US, for example, the possibility of signing advertising contracts with American firms is excluded.
