Passivity and anticipation of further development of the situation is the scenario according to which, for example, the men’s world championship and the League of Nations tournaments for both volleyball players and volleyball players are planned in Russia this year. In addition, there is a beach volleyball tournament in Arkhangelsk.
For now, however, there are no plans of any violent movements related to the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. “All events are to be organized as planned. FIVB believes that sport should always stay away from politics. We monitor the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of all event participants. This is our priority” – indicates the federation representative in a response to the TASS agency .
Świderski opening: “We would also be able to organize the men’s World Cup”. But there is one condition
The Polish Volleyball Federation reacted more decisively. The president has already sent questions about the situation to CEV and FIVB. – The position of the international coalition, our government, CEV and FIVB authorities will also be important. Sure, we can’t put our club or national team players at risk. We have no influence on the political situation, we have to react to it adequately, because it turns out that sport is sometimes politically dependent. We are aware of what may happen. We are waiting for guidelines from world and European authorities – Sebastian Świderski.
The president even declared the possibility of taking over part of the world championship. – I do not hide that if there was such a need, with the support of the FIVB, we would also be able to organize the men’s world championships. I cannot imagine that we would be left alone in this, of course, if it comes to the aforementioned change. I believe that the FIVB will make reasonable decisions and they will be primarily beneficial for the sport – assessed the activist. Świderski’s words were also confirmed by the minister of sport, Kamil Bortniczuk, who said that he and the president of the PZPS had contacted Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on this matter.
Meanwhile, the FIVB in the last hours, although so far not giving many messages regarding the matter of the world championships organized in Russia, now suddenly increased them. There was, for example, the announcement of the commemorative match of the stars of the Russian Super League with the “rest of the world” scheduled for April 12, as well as an announcement regarding the recruitment for volunteering in the host cities of the World Cup.
What about the ZAKSA Champions League quarter-finals? CEV has a problem too
In the case of volleyball events, the European Volleyball Federation (CEV) may also have a problem, which is to organize several matches of the Champions League, the Champions League or the CEV Cup in Russia. The case concerns, for example, the European club champions that he has to play.

The FIS is also not reacting to Russia’s aggression. “Competition as planned”
