This Wednesday, the Manchester United goes to the capital of Spain to face the Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the round of 16 of Champions League. In a press conference before the match, the interim coach of the English team, Ralf Rangnick, praised the work of rival Diego Simeone.
“In those 11 years he won titles with a clear identity and a recognizable style of play, and I don’t think that has changed in recent years. We haven’t faced each other yet, but I have always admired what he has achieved. In 11 years at Atlético , I think he has completely changed the club to become one of the most respected in Europe.”
Rangnick also spoke about what he expects from the clash with the Spanish team, saying it will be a “physical and emotional” duel, and called for a “mentally strong” Manchester United.
“The style and way his teams have always played reflects emotions that he tries to bring to the team. We need to match the level of energy and emotions in both games. I will try to prepare the team for exactly that kind of challenge. It will be physical, emotional. We have to be mentally strong in both games, even more away from home”, he pointed out.
The duel between Atlético de Madrid and Manchester United will be, at 17:00 (Brasília time), at the Wanda Metropolitano. The return game will be on March 15th at Old Trafford.
