Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova responded to the 2018 Olympic champion Alena Savchenko, who condemned the behavior of coach Eteri Tutberidze in relation to figure skater Kamila Valieva. Her words are quoted by RBC.
Tarasova called the statements of the athlete incorrect. “Alena is not in the team, she does not know how they work. You need to speak only for those things to which you are directly related, ”she said.
Earlier on February 21, Savchenko expressed the opinion that what happened at the 2022 Olympics was a sign of the need for change. In her opinion, the figure skaters in the Tutberidze group are suffering. The champion noted that the blame for the unsuccessful performance lies not with Valieva, but with the coaches, because they treated her like that.
Prior to this, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, criticized the coaches of Kamila Valieva for “coldness” after her performance in the free program of the Olympics. He stressed that he was shocked by this attitude towards the 15-year-old athlete.
Valieva was in the lead after the short program of the Games in Beijing, but in the free program she fell twice and remained in fourth place. During the Olympics, the athlete was involved in a doping scandal, a banned substance was found in her sample.
