The Peruvian horse Kantor was superior and won the classic in tribute to the Ecuadorian Army, run on Sunday in the distance of 1,300 meters at the Miguel Salem Dibo racetrack. Kantor fought throughout the race and in the final straight, well led by his jockey Carlos Lozano, he got a comfortable lead over his rival Sing It First, who came in second place.

It was precisely Kantor, of the stud Spanglish, the one that came out to command the competition, followed by Sing It First, Police, Centennial and the rest of the classic participants.

Already by the 700 meters Kantor changed his strategy and let Sing It First take over the lead, and although it seemed that this was going to be the winner, Kantor re-emerged through the palisade and with great spirit he faced his opponent to defeat him by a length and a half at the sentencing line.

After the classic at the Samborondeño racetracks, as every year, the tribute to the Ecuadorian Army was fulfilled, whose representatives presented a trophy to the Spanglish stable, for the victory of Kantor, who set the time of 1 minute, 19 seconds and 55 hundredths for the 1,300 meters.

Lukacu and Balero

In another race, the colt Balero, a native of the Don Miguel stud farm, was impressive when he took the honors riding Henry Morán in the 1,000 meters in the third race of the day. Balero, who was running last, charged with conspicuous power to beat San Mateo by a head in closing. He stopped the stopwatches at 1 minute, 03 seconds, 37 hundredths.
