American mixed style fighter (MMA) Daniel Cormier admitted that he still considers Russian Fedor Emelianenko the greatest heavyweight of all time. He told about this on his YouTube channel.
The 42-year-old American, known for his performances in the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC), revealed his attitude towards the Russian athlete. “I just adore Fedor. But I have to clarify something. I had a conversation where I stated that Emelianenko would not perform as brightly in the UFC as he did in Pride. But I stressed that we are talking about a certain period in his career. Fyodor would have been able to do it before 2006. But later – no longer, ”he said.
Cormier, who is called Black Fedor in the United States, also noted that it is incorrect to compare former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and Emelianenko. “Fedor at 45 is still fighting guys like Timothy Johnson. I just take off my hat, ”said Cormier.
Emelianenko fought against Johnson on October 23 at the Bellator tournament in Moscow. “The Last Emperor” knocked out the opponent in the first round of the confrontation.
