Figure skating has become the most mentioned sport at the end of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing in Russian-language social media. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
This discipline was mentioned more often than others – 489.8 thousand times. Cross-country skiing is in second place (252.9), hockey closed the top three (150). Biathlon is in fourth position (116.9), while alpine skiing (32.8) and ski jumping (28.7) were the least mentioned.
At the Beijing Olympics, there was a scandal involving Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, whose doping test gave a positive result. In total, representatives of this sport from Russia won two gold, three silver and one bronze medals at the tournament.
The Russians in Beijing won four gold medals in cross-country skiing and, according to this indicator, lost to Norway, which has five victories. However, in terms of the total number of awards (11), Russian skiers surpass the Norwegians, who have eight medals.
