Hockey players of the Russian national team have updated the anti-record for the number of shots on goal made by the participants in the final matches of the Winter Olympic Games. It is reported by Championship.com.
In the final match of the 2022 Games against Finland, the Russians made 17 shots on the opponent’s goal and showed the worst result since 1992, when the statistics were counted. The previous anti-record also belonged to Russia and was set in 1998, when Vladimir Yurzinov’s team made 20 shots on the Czech Republic’s goal (0:1) in the finals of the Nagano Games.
Russia lost to Finland earlier on Monday 20 February. The game ended with a score of 2:1, the Finns for the first time in history became Olympic champions.
The Russian national hockey team once in history won the gold of the Olympics. This happened in 2018. In 1992, the Unified Team won the Games.
