The closing ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games has begun in Beijing. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
The ceremony started at 15:00 Moscow time at the Beijing National Stadium. The ceremony will include a parade of athletes and the transfer of the Olympic flag to the hosts of the next Winter Games. They will take place in 2026 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
The Russian team will take part in the parade of athletes under the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). About 60 members of the Russian delegation took part in the procession. Three-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Alexander Bolshunov became the standard-bearer.
The Russian team at the Games consisted of 461 people. In addition to the athletes themselves, these are coaches, staff, as well as leaders and employees of the ROC and the Federal Biomedical Agency.
The first competition at the Beijing Olympics began on Wednesday, February 2. In 2008, the Chinese capital hosted the Summer Olympic Games.
